For the construction of the buoyancy protection of the excavation pits at the ElbX construction project, a movable work platform was required.

In August 2023, the construction management approached the mechanical engineering department of PORR Spezialtiefbau with a request to build a work platform. After a brief, passionate research according to our pioneering spirit, the design and calculation began. The reliable partner for steel construction and assembly of the platform was quickly found with PES in Colbitz.

Wheel housings with flanged wheels were purchased from a long-standing partner in Hamburg.The procurement of the rails for the platform proved to be complicated. Since the platform is driven by 4 hydraulic rotary drives, a rail with a parallel-running rack was needed. As the rail had to be mounted on the top beam of the diaphragm wall, it was also in the area of building supervision, which significantly influenced the procurement.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of both teams working closely together, the platform was ready for use and handed over to the construction site on time on April 30, 2024.

The platform is designed to work with 2 equipment units (40 tonnes each) or to carry out a test load with a tensile force of 1,500 kN.
